
Medical Director and Co-Founder – Pacific Coast Recovery Center
Daniel Headrick, M.D. is the Medical Director and Co-Founder of the Pacific Coast Recovery Center. Unlike most treatment center Medical Directors, Dr. Headrick does not maintain a private practice but instead dedicates all of his time to the care and treatment of the patients of Pacific Coast Recovery Center. This unique commitment of time establishes a standard of care that is rarely matched in any other treatment setting.
As Medical Director, Dr. Headrick oversees the treatment of more than 800 patients per year, managing their withdrawal from alcohol and other substances. He provides a very individualized approach, including acupuncture, lectures, and counseling. He tailors treatment strategies to each patient, based upon their coexisting medical conditions, types of drugs to which they are addicted, length of addiction, and emotional well being. With 22 years experience in Addiction Medicine, Dr. Headrick has treated more than 13,000 inpatients.
Active in the community, Dr. Headrick frequently lectures on drugs and addiction and pain and addiction to audiences as diverse as school students, physician groups, treatment professionals, church groups, business executives, and medical students at University of California, Irvine Medical School.
Dr. Headrick Received his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles Medical School. He had a solo family practice for 15 years. Dr. Headrick is further distinguished by his post graduate certification from the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) in 1988.
Prior to opening the Pacific Coast Recovery Center, Dr. Headrick was the Medical Director of the Hoag Hospital Chemical Dependency Center for 11 years. He has also served as Medical Director of the Chemical Dependency Unit at Charter Hospital in Corona California and the primary attending physician at the former Genesis Program at South Coast Medical Center. In addition to his position as Medical Director of the Pacific Coast Recovery Center. Dr. Headrick is an associate professor at the University of California, Irvine Medical School.
Executive Director and Co-Founder Pacific Coast Recovery Center
Steven Collier RN, is one of the co founders of the Pacific Coast Recovery Center. He has been working in the chemical dependency / behavioral health field since serving as a command Drug Exemption Officer in the U.S. Navy in the 1970’s. A graduate of California State University Los Angeles and Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, Steve has held a Registered Nursing License since the early 1980’s, and is a certified chemical dependency nurse.
Steve gained a love for the addiction recovery field while working for the Care Units (Adult and Adolescent) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and at the Alpha Unit at Glendale Memorial Hospital. He served in Nursing Leadership roles at the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center (ADTC) at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and at the Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center Recovery Services Unit. While establishing the Recovery Services unit at Loma Linda in 1991, Steve was part of the clinical team that first developed protocols for the treatment of addicted pain patients within a chemical dependency recovery setting. This landmark work has opened the doors to recovery for chronic pain patients dealing with the nightmare of addiction. After identifying a talent in developing and opening hospital based treatment centers, Steve starting his own business in 1994, and was contracted to open and manage treatment centers at San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland and the Knollwood Center in Riverside California. In 2001, Steve partnered with the pioneering Addictionist Joseph Galletta, MD, and opened the Hemet Valley Recovery Center successfully in 2001. Developing skills in psychiatric services, Steve also directed the opening of the 31 bed Center for Behavioral Medicine Unit at Moreno Valley Community Hospital. In 2006, a partnership was formed between Steve and Daniel Headrick, MD to create the Pacific Coast Recovery Center. Through the strength of this partnership and the unmatched skill and talent of the leadership and clinical team, Pacific Coast Recovery Center is truly a special place for healing.
Vice President of Business Development
Tony Marquez is the Vice President of Business Development for Pacific Coast Recovery Center. Tony has over eighteen years of chemical dependency experience and an extensive background in managed behavioral health care, substance abuse treatment facilities and employee assistance programs. He has held a variety of high profile marketing and account management positions for leading companies both on the provider and the payer side. Tony feels there is no greater honor then being a part of witnessing patients and there families recover and heal from the grips of addiction and bondage.

Program Director
Jean Voska has 30 years of experience in the mental health and addiction fields. She started out as a psychiatric nurse after graduating from Baylor University in Dallas, Texas, in 1978. She went on to complete her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, at Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas in 1986. She completed her Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse training with a Hazelden program in Dallas Texas in 1989. In 2006, Jean became a certified supervisor through CAMFT.
Jean has worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings throughout her career which included psychiatric disorders, sexual abuse and sex offender treatment, eating disorders, mental health assessments for the school districts, managed care, and chemical dependency. Jean served as the clinical administrator for an outpatient biofeedback/neurofeedback private practice prior to joining the team at Pacific Coast Recovery.
Lead Counselor
Christopher Knippers is a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology who has dedicated his professional life to helping people find healing and fulfillment for over 25 years. Dr. Knippers comes to Pacific Coast Recovery Center from Betty Ford Center where his clinical skills have been vital in serving those seeking recovery. He has worked with the general patient population as well as specializing in evaluating and treating safety-sensitive professionals, people dealing with both chemical dependency and another psychiatric disorder; and has given guidance to the families whose loved ones are dealing with addictions. Dr. Knippers has served on the adjunct faculty of Chapman University's University College in Palm Desert for over 10 years, and also lectures at workshops and conferences. He has written two published books based on his own remarkable healing journey, has contributed chapters to other author's works, has written numerous articles, and has been interviewed for numerous shows. His approach to recovery is based upon principles integrating the 12 steps, medicine, psychology, nutrition, exercise, and spirituality.
Clinical Nurse Manager
June received her Registered Nursing degree from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing in Montclair, New Jersey, and has a background in Medical Surgical Nursing. Her 40 year nursing career encompasses many years of experience in the areas of Behavioral Health and Chemical Dependency, working with adult and adolescent populations challenged with depression, schizophrenia, eating disorders, addictions and various affective disorders. The last few years June's focus has been on Chemical Dependency and Addiction Medicine.
As Clinical Nurse Manager, June oversees all functions of the Pacific Coast Recovery Center Nursing Staff, and is dedicated to exemplary Nursing practice and excellent patient care.
Case Manager/CD Counselor
Lisa Bahar is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in addition to being certified by CCBADC as an Internationally Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional. Lisa received her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University and her Baccalaureate degree from University of Southern California. Lisa enjoys working with adolescents, adults, couples and families and is known for using creative interventions to treat problems including Cinema-Therapy.
Intake Coordinator
Mary came to Pacific Coast Recovery Center with many years of experience in the Chemical Dependency field, both professionally and personally. Mary has been a Licensed Vocational Nurse for 18 years and has a passion for helping individuals and families in the recovery process. Professionally she has also worked as a holistic massage therapist and a nurse counselor. She brings compassion and a depth of understanding to the addiction and chronic pain patients and she is the first to welcome them to Pacific Coast Recovery Center so as to make their admission as comfortable as possible.
Intake & Outreach Manager
Adriana Castellanos has been working in the field of chemical dependency for the last 5 years. She is bi-lingual in Spanish. Adriana is a Registered Recovery Worker and has been trained in the Arise Model of Intervention as well. Along with her various positions in marketing, admissions and intake she has facilitated family group sessions. She has provided her own floral therapy groups for clients in treatment. She has a passion for helping addicts and their families by assisting them in finding treatment that fits their individual needs. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and growing in her own personal recovery.
Case Manager
Larry has worked in the field of Chemical Dependency since 1975. He served as co director of counseling at Crossroads Hospital, Van Nuys, CA for over five years in a co-occurring disorder hospital. He was involved with St. Joseph Health Care System for over seventeen years where he served as a chemical dependency counselor and started their family program in the early eighties. He was promoted to Clinical Supervisor in Eureka where he implemented both their inpatient and outpatient programs. He gained further knowledge in assessment and diagnosis. In 1995 he moved to Washington State to work for Group Health Cooperative in their Chemical Dependency program that worked in conjunction with Behavioral Health. Before moving back to Southern California he worked at Northwest Resources as an outpatient counselor. In 2008 he joined the staff at PCRC as a case manager. He enjoys action oriented techniques and reality based treatment, including family systems.
Recreation Therapist
Recreation Therapy utilizes a wide range of interventions and techniques to improve and restore physical, social, cognitive, emotional and spiritual needs to create lifelong wellness.
Michelle holds a bachelor’s degree and National Certification in Recreation Therapy and has worked in the mental health and chemical dependency field for 15 years. She also holds a fitness specialist certification from University of California, Irvine, as well as an extensive background and training in music and dance. Having studied extensively in the areas of medical/clinical hypnotherapy, guided imagery, spirituality, neurolinguistic programming and massage therapy, Michelle offers a wealth of knowledge and experience. With a love for life and compassion for those in the recovery process, she creatively fosters healing from the heart, incorporating spirituality, art, music and dance. She has served as a vocalist for the Saddleback Master Chorale for the past seven years and serves on its Board of Directors. Her current project is writing her first musical score for an International Festival Fall 2008.
